The cover is from ‘Consistent apparent adult survival and nest-site fidelity of whimbrel Numenius phaeopus near Churchill, Manitoba, Canada over a 40-year period’ by Ausems et al. This incubating Whimbrel was photographed by Andrew Johnson during fieldwork in Churchill, Manitoba in 2013. After a routine nest check, the adult was photographed with a remote-triggered camera while returning to incubate its four splotchy eggs, camouflaged in the lichens and sedges.
